Lena Dunham shot by Terry Richardson. No. “Girl Power.” NO.

Ugh. No Mayo-tato. No.
Everything about this is uncomfortable and terrible.
Can we stop pretending that the only people who are fit to have children are “smart, funny, creative, successful” people? You know that sometimes people like that raise assholes, yeah?
I’m not saying it’s a total crapshoot, I’m just saying “smart, funny, creative, successful” isn’t everything. Also, those people don’t owe you or society any babies. Congrats that you’re happy with your choice, but the inability to see how other people can be happy with different choices kind of makes you an asshole.
Isn’t it just terrible when close-minded people who can’t see beyond their own experiences have children?!
Yeah, you’re right! We shouldn’t focus on women in Kenya who start their own businesses, Africa is one monolithic place where only bad things happen. We should focus on those poor downtrodden people (but let’s not do anything icky, like learn their names) and NEVER mention good things that happen. Because that hurts people. Or something.
Also, it’s really hard for my tiny brain to comprehend that bad things and good things can happen on a continent and talking about the good things means I’m ignoring the bad things.
